Heidi Sturgeon, MSW, RSW, MPCC | Halifax Clinic
Heidi is a Holistic Counsellor with a Masters in Clinical Social Work having graduated from the University of Toronto in 1997. She is a registered Private Practitioner with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers (NSASW) and also Registered as a Master Practitioner in Clinical Counseling (MPCC) with the Canadian Professional Counselors Association (CPCA).
Heidi has spent the past twenty years working in clinical settings as both a therapist and also as a leader in Health Care and Education. These work settings included Family & Community Services, Mental Health and Addictions, Health Care and Education as well as Private Practice. Aside from her extensive work with Individuals and Families Heidi also has extensive experience working with multidisciplinary teams, community programs and government departments.
Heidi works from a trauma informed care lens. Her counselling approaches include brief solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, client centered therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness. Heidi is also a Level Three Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Practitioner (also known as “tapping”).
Heidi’s approach is collaborative, compassionate, sincere and individually tailored to each client’s unique strengths and desired goals. Heidi is passionate about working with clients and guiding them towards meeting their fears, their self judgements and their doubts with self compassion, curiosity and kindness. Her work assists clients on their journey towards greater clarity and well being in moving towards living with more ease, well being and joy.
To nurture her own body, mind and spirit Heidi currently practices yoga, mediation, mindfulness, and enjoys reading, spending time in nature and on/or by the water.
