What is Muscle Stimulation?
Muscle stimulation is a device used by health care professionals to assist in the active rehabilitation of muscles. The muscle stimulator sends a current into your tissues which causes the motor units in your muscle to contract resulting in a muscle twitch. You can then perform an exercise while the stimulator is helping you to contract the muscle.
Muscle simulation is beneficial because it helps you target a weakened muscle. The muscle could be weak because of an injury or it could be the result of a muscle imbalance. When we perform an exercise there is a group of muscles that help to get the job done. Often one group of those muscles will be overworked and the other group will be weak. This is called a muscle imbalance. Muscle stimulation can help us overcome these muscle imbalances by targeting the specific muscle group that is not firing properly.
How is this muscle stimulation different than others?
The Wireless Professional advanced muscle stimulator is different and more specialized than any other of its kind. First of all it is wireless, which allows for more freedom of movement therefore you can perform more functional exercises while the unit is on such as squats/lunges.
Secondly it has a unique feature where it performs a pre-‘scan’ of your muscle before it starts. This scan then determines the level of current that is required to cause your specific muscle to twitch and no more, allowing for a complete customized treatment protocol that will be unique to you.
Thirdly the muscle stimulator can be set so that it will only turn on once you have activated it by contracting the muscle yourself. This is a huge benefit as often when people are training a new muscle it is so weak that they are uncertain if they are even using it correctly. With this feature you will know exactly when you are using the right muscle because the machine will not turn on if you are performing the exercise incorrectly.
Finally, this machine also has a TENS unit built into it so that it can provide simultaneous pain relief while you exercise.
Who should use the Professional Wireless Advanced Muscle Stimulator?
Anyone who is recovering from an injury such as a fracture, sprain or strain. If you are suffering from unexplained pain that seems to come out of nowhere the cause could be a muscle imbalance which will be identified following an assessment, and the proper use of the stimulator can help you overcome this. Also if you are an athlete and find you are struggling with certain activities such as jumping, kicking, and/or throwing the wireless stimulator can help you over come those hurdles.
