Krystie Mackenzie | Dartmouth Clinic
Originally from Truro, Nova Scotia, Krystie Mackenzie was actively involved in sports while growing up and spent many years playing basketball. With a keen interest in fitness, she began volunteering, organizing and training with physical activity programs for youth to promote a healthy lifestyle. This gave her the inspiration to pursue a career aimed towards helping others with their overall health promotion, wellness and injury prevention.
Krystie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2014 and became certified in Disability Management in 2015 while studying at Dalhousie University. Her program placements involved studying and shadowing various clinicians with focus on rehabilitation and physiotherapy. This has given her the experience of working with a wide range of patients and clients from athletes to persons with physical and mental disabilities.
Throughout her degree, she has also worked as an athletic trainer for university varsity teams as well as other various organizations and events. This provided Krystie with valuable experience in sports taping, concussion assessments, sideline and first responder treatment for injuries.
In her spare time, Krystie enjoys continuing to volunteer with athletes, working part-time in tourism on the Halifax waterfront, spending time with friends and family and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
